Since the current F12/13 BMW 6 Series range was launched in 2011, the replacement model is expected to be released somewhere in 2018 staying true to the 7-year interval we’ve grown to expect.
That means that the next GT Coupe from Munich will reach dealerships well after the new G11/12 7 Series will be launched and it will pick up a few things along the way.

With the Vision Future Luxury concept unveiled at Beijing, we now know what to expect from the next flagship and the rest of the line-up in the future. At first, the 5 Series will pick-up a bit of tech from the 7er and it will then, in turn, transfer some of it to its Coupe version, the 6er.

What could we expect to see on this new car? Well, first of all, a new exterior design that might very well look like this rendering from Autobild. As you can see, it stick true to the recent trend set by the Germans that sees the front fascia modified so that the headlights are connected to the kidney grille.

Other than that, the coupe-like body should stay within the same confines with the greenhouse possibly taller than what is shown in the adjacent picture. Around the back, the taillights should be thinner, featuring the almighty, praised OLED technology.

Inside, a new dash and more touch sensitive areas are expected, just like we’ve seen on the Vision Concept. Of course, an M version will also be launched, probably featuring a new engine with a smaller displacement, to keep up with the ever tightening CO2 emission regulations.

Extensive CFRP and aluminum usage could shed some of the much dreaded weight off the new 6er making it more efficient and agile on the road. Of course, expect an eDrive version too and, why not, a hybrid high-performance model.
