Rendering: 2015 BMW 1 Series Facelift

The current BMW F20 1 Series will turn 4 next year and will receive the traditional facelift of Life Cycle Impulse from its creators. That means we’ll probably get rid of the ugly, curious fish look the current model has.

Let’s face it, the 1 Series has a face that only a mother could love. Sure, it’s a good car, with plenty of practical appeal and a lot of popularity these days (especially the M135i) but nobody thinks it’s beautiful.

Hopefully, that’s all about to change with the LCI. Automotive manipulator Theophilus Chin, already did a sketch, a rendering of how he thinks the new model will look like.

Unfortunately, he might be right. That’s because, judging by the recent developments in Munich, most Bimmers these days share the same face over a wide variety of models.

For example, the 3 Series Sedan shares almost the exact same face with the 4 Series, 4 Series Gran Coupe and 3 Series GT while the X3 and X4 have exactly the same face. You get our drift.

That means we could see the new 1 Series looking pretty much the same as the current 2 Series with a hatch around the back. That’s both good and bad.

It’s good because the 2er looks rather nice and inspired power and agility but it’s also bad because it makes the BMW line-up even more confusing and limits diversity.

Overall, the rendering is decent but we’re still hoping that the designers will go in a different direction.
