Renault has just unveiled the Zoe electric car at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month. This car is a purpose-built EV, which we find very pleasantly designed.
Now Renault Australia announces that the Zoe is undergoing testing in both Melbourne and Perth accompanied by a team of Renault Z.E. technicians.
“Renault is deeply committed to the success of electric vehicles and to the Australian market. Globally, Renault is a leader in the development and mass-market roll out of affordable, accessible electric vehicles. The aim of testing the new ZOE in Australia is to ensure that we are responding to the specific demands of the Australian market – from daily driving range to cooling systems for our climate,” says Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia.
“ZOE represents the future of Renault. It embodies our new design language, showcases our technological excellence and heralds a new era in motoring. And it has been designed to be as affordable as possible. I look forward to being able to offer ZOE to the Australian market in the future,” Hocevar adds.
On the European NEDC cycle, the Zoe supposedly offers a driving range on a full charge is 210 km (130 miles), though Renault did admit you’d get 100km in cold conditions and 150km in mild weather. Still that’s very impressive, and Australia doesn’t have that much cold weather to begin with.
