Despite the fact that people have really taken a liking to Renault’s smallest electric offering, the Twizy, which is selling well in Europe and even getting a tuning pack, the French automaker has decided to go one step further, and include it in a three-day event which is taking place this weekend, at Covent Garden, in London (July 6th to 8th), in an effort to further popularize their EVs and educate the (young) public.
The aim of the show is to get David Guetta to play some music and make everybody start dancing and jumping around. How will this be of any use? Well, the people will be jumping on a special floor which will convert the people’s movement into electricity, which in turn will power a static Twizy located on the stage. Aside from David Guetta, well-known Notting Hill DJ, Norman Jay MBE, will also perform at a VIP cocktail party on Saturday evening, where they will be giving away 500 pairs of ‘Plug Into The Positive Energy’ Wayfarer style sunglasses to those who are on the dancefloor.

Renault’s Head of their EV Program for the UK, Andy Heiron, said “Our current three-model electric range has already been attracting a lot of interest, especially the unique Twizy. The Covent Garden event will be the biggest on the tour and is the perfect location for Twizy to take centre stage, and the dancing will be fantastic [. . .] But the proof is in the pudding. We’re confident that after experiencing the refined and responsive driving experience of a purely electric vehicle, combined with the financial and environmental benefits of switching to an electric vehicle, potential buyers will be smitten.
