Renault has just unveiled Sandero Sand'up Concept, a car based on the newly-launched Sandero but incorporating numerous sports and high-performance parts which provide a whole new look and upgraded power to this low-cost model. Debuted at the Sao Paolo Auto Show, Sandero Sand'up has several different technical specifications than the base Sandero, with modified ground clearance, 18-inch wheels and upgraded engine.
First of all, the design is completely new, with red front and rear bumpers and 100 percent glass doors especially supposed to increase the amount of light inside the car. Beside the bodykit, Renault also replaced the exterior mirrors with side-mounted cameras transferring images to a console-mounted LCD screen. What's interesting is that the LCD screen is also used by the in-car navigation system providing driving directions for a mentioned destination.
Both doors are based on an electro-hydraulic system, similar to the one installed on Laguna Coupe Concept, while the headlights were upgraded to LEDs from traditional halogen-based light bulbs.
In terms of engines, Sandero Sand'up is powered by a 1.6-liter Hi-FLex engine that can produce a maximum power of 107 hp on gasoline and 112 hp on ethanol. With the help of a manual five-speed transmission, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds on gasoline and 10.5 seconds on ethanol, compared to the base Sandero which does the same thing in 11.5 seconds (1.6 MPI variant).
Obviously, the Sandero Sand'up is still a concept for the time being so there's no chance of seeing it reach reach mass-production in the near future. However, if you want to see more photos showing the Sao Paolo concept, have a look at the gallery published below the article.
