Renault Unveils New Grand Scenic, You Can Have It With Five Or Seven Seats

Renault’s Scenic range has a new member, the Grand Scenic. We are not talking about the introduction of a new derivative of the French MPV, but the awaited launch of the bigger version of the Scenic. The regular model was unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and Renault was expected to show the Grand Scenic soon after that.

Renault’s extension of the Scenic range comes with a larger MPV, which embodies the qualities of the smaller brother, as well as some tricks from its cousin, the Espace.

Customers can order five-seat or seven-seat versions, and the interior provides a flat floor if the owner wants to fill the car with luggage or various objects.

Compared to the previous model, the new Grand Scenic from Renault is taller, has a bigger ground clearance, is longer, and wider. Its rear overhang has been reduced, while the front overhang was increased.

The front and rear track have increased, along with the wheelbase. The changes are not massive, but significantly improve interior space. The latter was a quality of the old Grand Scenic, so the new model is even better at this.

From a design point of view, the new Grand Scenic follows the path of its smaller sibling. The fixed panoramic glass roof provides a brighter cabin, while the aluminum roof bars provide even more space if a storage box is fitted.

Just like the Scenic, the new Grand Scenic has 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. Renault offers an optional two-tone livery from the second equipment level, and the car is available with an exclusive color, Vision Brown. You can admire it in this article’s photo gallery.

On the interior, Renault has implemented a portrait-format display, just like on the Talisman and Megane models. The sliding center console was kept, and the cockpit can be had with an exclusive “Club Brown” interior trim. The front seats are similar to those of the ongoing Espace, while the rear seats can be folded with the press of a button. Trunk capacity was also increased. More storage spaces have been implemented inside for increased stowage possibilities.

Renault’s new Grand Scenic also features a full set of driver aids. A first in the segment is an active emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, fitted as standard. There’s also a lane keeping assist, a fatigue detection system, and other elements like a hands-free parking system. Renault even installed a full-color head-up display, optional Bose Surround Sound system, and the Multi-Sense interior ambiance and driving mode customization system.

The engine range is composed of two turbocharged gasoline engines, and four variations of diesel engines. There is also a Hybrid-assist model, which has an electric generator and 48-volt battery to aid with the recovery of kinetic energy while braking. The collected energy is the used to help with acceleration.
