After having constantly teased us with small details of its new Twingo city car, Renault has debuted the awaited vehicle at the Geneva Auto Show and we must say that the company certainly gave it a fresher, cooler look.
Apparently, the company’s designers took a different direction with the city car and went for something that would enchant Renault buyers. Thus, they set out to design a new and improved, a funner, more agile car with a lot more space than the previous model Twingo, along with the guys from Daimler.

From a design point of view, Renault and Daimler decided to make the said vehicle more versatile and give interested customers the chance to choose between a number of four vibrant, spring-inspired colors such as light blue, white, red and yellow. Moreover, the new Twingo has a more rounder, robust body but still maintains the same lightness we loved in the former model.

So, it appears the company went for a new approach but still values its roots. Therefore, the new city car is inspired from the Renault 5, meaning we’ll be able to see that the vehicle’s prominent shoulders remember us of the rear-engined 5 Turbo model earlier mentioned.

The hidden rear door handles are quite a nice touch and the big head lights certainly add to the city car’s already sprightly personality. Moreover, according to the press release “ The originality of New Twingo's wide glass hatch makes an important contribution to the modernity its rear-end styling, while the rear lights are a natural prolongation of the tailgate.”

Moving on to the Twingo’ engine, one we’ll be able to notice that the company decided to have it positioned at the rear. This is quite an advantage for the new Renault Twingo as it frees the front end, offering extra cabin space, and at the same time improving the turning circle. Such a thing makes the car even more city-appropriate, drivers managing to maneuver it easier in built-up areas.

Thus, it seems that by uniting their forces, Renault and Daimler have managed to bring a new and improved city car. A Twingo that, although might hold some features in common with the former version such as the gear stick, it is roomier, fuller, more city-oriented.
