Renault Twizy Used as Off-Roader in Brecon Beacons Park

The Renault Twizy is known for being a small electric vehicle designed in collaboration with Renault Sport to offer fun driving around the city. Not anymore, as it can now be transformed to ride trails in the woods.

Eco Travel Network is a UK company that offers ecologic means of transportation around the Breacon Beacons National Park since 2012. Now, the company decided to transform one of the models they offer into something more suitable for muddy trails and rough country lanes - an off-roading Renault Twizy.

They named it Toro and the project has been passed over to Red Castle Classics in Caerphilly, the end result looking more than spectacular. The first thing to notice are some bigger, beefier wheels followed by the higher and softer suspension that offers passengers a smoother ride over rocks, bumps and other uneven surfaces as well as the necessary ground clearance.

The Toro also comes with two racks at the back fitted with upright struts which can carry two bicycles or overnight bags and plastic rainproof lockable boxes. Ten households around the area there have already signed up to help test the little mountain goat while the rest of the normal Twizy models will be used to encourage tourists to leave their cars and use EVs instead in the remote area.

Scared of running out of electricity in the middle of the park? Well, if you’re not dumb enough to leave the trails (that’s what those mountain-bikes in the back are for), you’ll find over 20 charging points scattered throughout the park, so there shouldn’t be a problem with that.
