Renault Trafic Sport+ Pack Delivers Desirable Downforce

We're not as good at making alliteration rhymes as the masked man from V for Vendetta, but we had to try our best. This crazy idea for a production van shows there is somebody at Renault who loves van drivers. Why else would the French company offer the Sport+ package with spoilers and cool stickers?

The news comes from Britain, where the Trafic gets this special trim for £995 not including VAT. It's not cheap, but we've been told by a Miata owner that one red stripe equals ten horsepower, so this Trafic has about 250 hp now.

Jokes aside, the Sport+ body kit was inspired by the world of Renaultsport racing and includes front and rear spoilers, front fog-light surrounds, side running boards and striped decals. All of them fit perfectly with the design of this brand new commercial vehicle, a sister car to the Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro.

The package also adds LED daytime running lights as a standard feature, which would explain why it costs so much. With them in place, you can get major respect from people with Honda Civics and Ford Escorts.

The haters are going to tell you that the front spoiler is too low to give you downforce. But don't listen to them. They are just jealous that your Renault is faster than their Porsches.

The Sport+ pack is available as an option when ordering any version of a new Trafic, and in any of the ten available body colors. The side decals can be chosen in either black, red or white.

In Britain, this commercial vehicle starts at £18,245 and offers three body styles: panel van, crew van and passenger van. There are several reasons to get excited when talking about it. For example, this is the first large Renault commercial vehicle to be launched with their newly developed 1.6 dCi engine, which is available with either a single turbo or twin turbos. The van boasts fuel economy of up to 50.4mpg (NEDC Combined) and CO2 emissions as low as 149g/km.
