Renault to Offer Laguna Facelift and End Koleos Production

Creating a new vehicle is an incredibly complicated process, with the transition from the concept to the production form involving an army of people and resources.

However, a carmaker’s expectations are not always met, with the release of certain models bringing unsatisfactory sales results. This is the case with two of Renault’s models, the Laguna (the range includes a sedan, estate and coupe) and the Koleos crossover.

In the following months, the French automotive producer is set to decide the faith of the two models. The company is said to use different pathways for the cars.

The Laguna is expected to receive a facelift that will be presented at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. One of the potential changes could be the adoption of the design language used by the Renault Latitude, a vehicle based on the Korean Samsung SM5.

The mid-life refresh is also expected to bring changes to the interior of the Laguna. However, the car’s engine range isn’t expected to receive any modifications. The revamped incarnation of the Laguna is expected to reach showroom floors at the beginning of next year.

As for the Koleos, it seems that Renault will discontinue the model. The niche vehicle is currently coming to life in South Korea, being produced by Samsung Motor. The vehicle's production is expected to be ended later this year. Unlike the Laguna, which hasn’t met sales expectations but has managed to keep out of the free-fall zone, the Koleos has really been a financial nightmare for the French company.
