The main Renault research center in the World, the French Technocentre will suffer an image transformation, changing its name into “Le Losange”
For 12 years, the Technocentre has been Renault’s main site, allowing the carmaker’s engineers to work closely together with employees from other business sectors. The new name, which represents the symbol of the company (recognized worldwide) reflects this collaboration. The company has made this decision to show that it places its heritage at the Group’s core and that it aims to build its future and “invent tomorrow’s automobile” through this established pathway.
The Technocentre was inaugurated in 1998 and was initially designed to group all the engineers in charge of Renault’s new vehicle projects. Until the present time, it has evolved, becoming the company’s most important international engineering center, leading a network of similar sites located in France, Romania, Brazil, South Korea and India. The facility has served as a working ground for employees belonging to various Renault functions, such as manufacturing, design and purchasing.
The "losange”, or diamond, has been Renault’s emblem since 1924, and is recognized worldwide as the symbol of the company. This debuted on an opening in the front hood and served as a voice for the vehicle horn. It has been redesigned multiple time over its 86 years of existence : in the 1960s it was a “diamond point”, it was transformed into an abstract design in 1972, with the help of the painter Vasarely and adopted its current dynamic shape in 1992.
