Renault will unveil the Duster Detour concept car at the Johannesburg International Motor Show on October 16, the French automaker announced today, also releasing a teaser for the compact SUV.
Developed in cooperation with a design studio in Johannesburg, South Africa, and based on the Renault Duster that was launched in the country last month, the Duster Detour concept is described as a “spectacular show-car” that mixes “a little Mad Max with a touch of the Terminator” and “some Dakar dust’n dirt”.
Putting Renault’s flamboyant description aside, the teaser reveals the vehicle sports an orange exterior color, LED taillamps, black five-spoke alloy wheels with orange accents, revised headlamps and a new set of fog lights mounted under the front grille.
“We’ve had an enormous amount of fun in integrating the key design equipment and eye-catching elements that have gone in to making up the Renault Duster Detour” said Geoffrey Gardiner, director at Renault Design Central Europe. “This fun and futuristic show-car couldn’t have come at a better time, following the introduction of the ground-breaking Renault Duster range in mid-September”, added Floyd Ramabulana, product manager at Renault South Africa.
