Renault’s partnership with Samsung has been making cars in Korea for ten years now, and it’s not just the local market that’s been the beneficiary. Models designed there have been gradually introduced in Europe as well, saving money for Renault, who for instance didn’t have to make a Megan sedan any more.
The replacement for the Megane sedan is of course the Fluence sedan, a car that’s largely identical to the Samsung SM3 sedan. The SM3 is now at its second generation, having been introduced in April 2009 at the Seoul Motor Show.
Now the company has given the SM3 its mid-life facelift for the Korean market, also previewing the changes that will occur for the Fluence facelift. The car gets a redesigned front bumper, as well as a grille with a doubled edge. The headlights feature more black and the fog light have their own surrounds, not being part of the lower grille any more.
Prototypes for the Fluence facelift were spotted undergoing testing, so it would not surprise us if Renault showed this at the Paris Motor Show 2012.
