Renault’s range of EVs is one of the most comprehensive of any manufacturer currently selling all-electric cars. However, the French manufacturer will not stop with its current lineup of four cars (Fluence, Twizy, Kangoo) including the Zoe, as, according to technologicvehicles.com, an all-electric city car developed in collaboration with Daimler will join the range in 2014 sporting a price tag arround the €10,000 ($12,400) mark.
A second model to be added to the ZE range may be an MPV, as Renault officials said that “ an electric MPV would be a good idea.” However, according to autocar.co.uk, the development a sporty EV has been confirmed by an actual Renault Sport engineer, but with absolutely no details. We don’t even know if this future model will be badged as Renault Sport, ZE or Alpine.
It is clear now, that Renault is riding the all-electric wave as far as it will go, and it’s all the better for it. We maintain a weary attitude towards rumors like these, but they are the kinds of rumors that keep us going - the thought of a genuinely sporty EV from Renault is a tantalizing one.
