As you may have noticed, manufacturers are getting ready to show their might at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, set to open its doors this weekend. This time is Renault's turn to announce its line-up for the event, a line-up spearheaded by Renault's Ondelios Concept.
The diesel hybrid concept, unveiled at last year's Paris Auto Show goes to the UK to give those attending an insight into where Renault and its vehicles are heading. Powered by a hybrid powerplant which combines a 205hp 2.0 dCi engine with two 20kW electric motors at the front and rear, the Ondelios can reach 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
The seven-speed, double-clutch gearbox to which the engine is mated, allows fuel consumption to be in the 4.5l/100km range. CO2 emissions levels are also lower than the average in today's vehicles, standing at 120g/km.
Enhancing Renault's electric future is the Kangoo be bop ZE concept. Powered by a 70kW electric motor developing 226Nm of torque. The battery packs on the be bop are meant to give the electric vehicle a range of 100 km (62 miles) but future models will be further enhanced to achieve 160 km (99.4 miles).
"Renault’s two concept cars, Ondelios and Kangoo Z.E. (Zero Emission), which wowed the Paris Motor Show last autumn, will take pride of place in Goodwood’s ‘FoS–TECH’ pavilion," the French manufacturer said in a release.
"The two most recent Renault concept cars, offering low or no emissions, plus a pristine 1959 electric Dauphine are all set to bask in the Sussex sunshine and delight the crowds."
