Renault has finally revealed the Clio Initiale Paris, a sexy supermini which we scooped for you guys back in July. Just as promised, the car is going on sale this month and headed to Paris with a more premium take on the features revealed exactly two years ago at the same venue.
What is Initiale Paris? At first glance, it’s a bit like Ford’s new Vignale series, a posh super-trim that bridges the gap between normal cars like the Clio and more premium models, such as a MINI Cooper. It’s also an answer to Peugeot’s XY trim level for the 208, of which we are fans.
Costing from €21,500 and available only in France, the Clio Initiale Paris is not a cheap car. Base models come with the 0.9 TCe turbo rated at the usual 90 PS and you can also order the 1.2 TCe with 120 PS and a twin-clutch gearbox from the Clio GT or the 1.5 diesel. The downside to more advanced engines is obviously going to be cost, with the 1.2 turbo fetching €23,600.
As expected, changes brought about by the new trim level include polished wheel designs, leather interior and a sports exhaust tip. The Initiale Paris trim level will likely also find its way onto the new Espace MPV, slated to debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show and going on sale at the very end of 2014.
Color options are limited to just three very soft tones. The Ivory you see in our photos is the standard affair, but for €500 extra you can also have it in high-gloss black or pearl gray. The extra equipment list also includes a very nice €400 panoramic roof.
