Renault-Nissan Sign Deal to Launch EVs in Austria and Switzerland

The Zero-Emission campaign started by the Renault-Nissan alliance has just reached Austria and Switzerland, as the two companies signed a deal with The Mobility House, an Austrian-based e-mobility solutions. The three signed a Memorandum of Understanding through which they will offer EV customers in the two aforementioned countries a so-called e-mobility package through Renault and Nissan dealers.

What does the "package" term mean? Renault says the whole deal will actually consist of the necessary infrastructure for charging an electric vehicle manufactured by one of the two carmakers as well as the installation of this kind of technology. Under the terms of the deal, TMH will be in charge with electricity for the charging unit through its local providers network.

“Our partnership with The Mobility House will give our EV customers in Austria and Switzerland a competitive one-stop solution at our dealerships for all their e-mobility needs, including domestic charging, installation by a certified technician, and electricity. This service will start with the award-winning Nissan LEAF, which arrives in Europe this year, the first in a series of 100% electric vehicles to be launched by the Alliance,” said Nissan International SA’s Pierre Loing, Vice President of Product Planning & Strategy and head of the company’s zero emission business unit. Nissan International is Nissan’s European headquarters based in Rolle, Switzerland.

Nissan has already launched its Leaf electric vehicle in the United States, while Europe is on schedule to receive the car sometimes this year. Renault is gearing up for the debut of its EVs, starting with the Fluence Z.E., Kangoo Z.E. and Twizy and ending with Zoe at the end of 2012.
