A third partner, ECOtality Inc., will also participate in the partnership in order to support the two sides in establishing and developing the charging network infrastructure.

Nissan expects to roll out the first zero-emission vehicles in the United States in 2010 but it's still unclear whether the Renault brand plans a similar strategy in America. However, the French manufacturer formed similar alliances in Europe, where it plans to bring electric vehicles and develop more charging network in the next few years.
ECOtality, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, has now signed the second agreement with Renault-Nissan, following the alliance formed last week in Tucson, Arizona. The companies will now work on the implementation of an EV charging corridor that will connect Phoenix and Tucson Metro areas.
"This partnership with Nissan and ECOtality enables us to consider strategic initiatives to support the introduction of electric vehicles in our region and to encourage individuals to incorporate green technology into their lives," said MAG Chair Peggy Neely, a Phoenix councilwoman. "Our goal is to work to develop regional policies that improve the quality of life in our region."
