Renault-Nissan Partner with Miyazaki Prefecture

The Renault-Nissan Zero Emission alliance is continuing its efforts to establish as many site for its future EV charging infrastructure with the signing of another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Miyazaki Prefecture in Japan.

As with all the other partnerships set up by the alliance of the two carmakers, the goal in Miyazaki is to create the necessary infrastructure and awareness for the future wave of electric vehicles sourced from the two.

The new partners will work on promoting EVs, developing a charging infrastructure, and the creation of the "Miyazaki Solar Frontier Vision," a mobility plan proposed by the Prefecture.

"Miyazaki is committed to promote renewable energy through the introduction of the ‘Miyazaki Solar Frontier Vision' in March," Miyazaki Governor Hideo Higashikokubaru said in a release. "Through this partnership with Nissan to promote EVs, we hope to expand the potential of solar energy in order to achieve a truly low-carbon society."

"Mass adoption of electric cars is key to creating a sustainable low-carbon society, and it is essential for us to work with public and private stakeholders to achieve success," Toshiyuki Shiga, Nissan COO continued.

"Miyazaki Prefecture, a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful natural attractions, is ideally suited for the promotion of all-electric, zero-emission vehicles."

With the approaching release of electric vehciles sourced from both Renault and Nissan, the partnerships they create these days may give the two the necessary edge to become the spear heads of the new automotive world. We are sure similar alliance announcements will be made throughout the years to come, in even greater numbers than we've witnessed in 2009.
