The Renault - Nissan alliance goes surprisingly well, not only from the point of view of technologies shared by the two companies, but also in the EV sector where the French - Japanese project formed partnerships with authorities and organizations from all over the world. But a merger between Renault and Nissan is out of discussion, or at least this is what Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn believes.
A merger of the two would only affect the cultural differences, Ghosn said according to a Bloomberg report, but also their willingness to remain independent. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean the alliance between the two won't go on, as both are looking to continue their collaboration and even expand it in other unexplored segments.
Renault last week unveiled the so-called Renault 2016 - Drive the Change plan, which comprises the main targets of the French company when it comes to the next five years. It will thus launch several new models into emerging markets, including in India where a new SUV is expected as soon as 2012. Besides the SUV, which is expected to be smaller than the Koleos, Renault will also begin sales of the Fluence and the Koleos in India in the course of this year.
“The success of Renault 2016 - Drive the Change relies on the mobilization and engagement of the men and women of Renault throughout the world. They are the key to the company’s future. It is their commitment that will contribute to building day after day the Renault of tomorrow," Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Renault, said in a statement when announcing the company's plans.
