The agreement states that the council will support the development of an electric vehicle charging infrastructure, while the Renault-Nissan Alliance will offer its EV range to the public.
As part of the agreement, Nissan will bring the Leaf EV to Milton Keynes at the beginning of next year and Renault will introduce its Zero Emissions vehicles in the area, starting from mid-2011. The Kangoo Z.E. van and the Twizi Z.E. two-seater will arrive next year, while the Fluence Z.E. saloon and the Zoe Z.E. supermini will come in 2012.
In addition to that, the Milton Keynes Council will support the installation of 430 electric vehicle charging stations in both public and private locations as well as 2,000 home stations. Drivers will benefit from local EV incentives, such as free charging and parking at city center posts and will also be able to receive national Government incentives that can reach 5,000 pounds.
