The Renault Nissan Alliance have signed a partnership with Paris-based food corporation, Danone. The partnership requires the Alliance to provide 15,000 vehicles for fleet use, over the next five years.
With a wide range of vehicles on offer, Danone will be able to choose any vehicle from the Renault, Dacia, Infiniti and Nissan brands - not that we’ll ever get to see an Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel edition delivering yogurt, as nice as that would be. They will also have a choice of the Alliance’s excellent electric offerings, which will definitely be a plus for urban duties, where such vehicles shine. The contract lasts until 2017 and the highest number of cars will be offered for the Russian, French and Mexican markets.

However, we feel that this is an excellent way for the Alliance to test its EVs in fleet usage. This partnership will also enable them to sell lots of them at a time, ensuring high volume sales and thus prompting them to invest more in the R&D of such vehicles, as without real financial motivation, nothing gets done nowadays, and we’re not just talking about the auto industry.
