The Renault-Nissan Alliance has sold its 100,000th electric vehicle, two years and seven months after the first Nissan Leaf was shipped to its customer in December 2010. The 100,000th EV, which is also a Nissan Leaf, was delivered recently to American graduate student Allison Howard, the Renault-Nissan Alliance announced today.
The company currently offers two all-electric vehicles, the Nissan Leaf and the Renault ZOE. While the Japanese car sold in more than 71,000 units, making it the world’s best-selling EV, Renault delivered about 30,000 electric vehicles, including the Kangoo Van Z.E., Twizy, Fluence Z.E. and the ZOE. Renault’s best-selling EV is the Twizy with about 11,000 examples sold since early 2012.
“The age of the mainstream zero-emission vehicle is here,” said Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn. “We expect demand to keep growing as the charging infrastructure develops – and we remain 100% committed to zero-emission technology for the long term.”
