Renault Megane RS #Under8: First Video of Next Nurburgring King

Rumors of the #under8 project spread across the Internet like wildfire, and now the French feel confident enough in their car to show it on video.

Short and sweet, this clip is taken at the test center of famed exhaust specialists Akrapovic, who will try to add power and torque throughout the 2-liter turbo engine's rev range.

Here's what we do know about the world's next front-wheel-drive production car right now:

1. In 2011, a Renault Megane RS 265 Trophy lapped the famous German track in a time of 8:07.97.
2. In March 2014, SEAT announced its brand new SEAT Leon Cupra 280 lapped the same track in 7:58.44.
3. At least two Megane RS test prototypes have been seen at the track since then.
4. Akrapovic will make a new exhaust, Pirelli some sticky tires and

Now for the rumors and speculation"

1. It's been suggested that the special edition car will be called the RS270 R. It would have 270 PS (duh), 400 Nm of torque and be capable of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, compared to 6 seconds right now.
2. We think it could have a bit more power than that. An Akrapovic exhaust for the 2-liter turbo in the Golf GTI adds 8.6 kW (11.7 PS) and 16 Nm (11.8 lb-ft), with 5.6 kilograms (12.4 lbs) shed off the weight of the car.
