Remember when you needed a V6 engine to get over 150 hp from diesel? We do, which is why this Megane 4 tuning project impresses us... in a weird way.
Renault's new Megane is undoubtedly the most beautiful compact hatchback to com out in recent years. Sorry Astra and Leon! Renault put a lot of worth into not only the design, but also the engineering.

While turbocharged gasoline engines have gotten a lot more economical, most European buyers will still opt for the 1.5 or 1.6 dCi. Why? Because they have proven themselves over the years and strike an excellent balance between torque and low fuel consumption.

As far as we know, deliveries of the bi-turbo 1.6 with 160 hp haven't yet started. But do not fear because there is a solution. If you are willing to irreparably void your warranty, the same amount of power can be achieved from the regular 130 PS version.

BR Performance Paris is one of the first companies to have a play with the ECU of the Megane 4. This car and this engine will remain in production until around 2021, so you could say that this is a historic moment.

As usual, it's the photos that first drew our attention. A white Megane 5-door with the GT-line package looks simply awesome. It's got big wheels, a diffuser and lots of cool trim. Unfortunately, it's also got a towing hitch - you have bad taste mister Megane owner.

Anyway, the output of the 1.6 dCi engine has been increased from 130 to 161 PS. That means this diesel engine makes about as much as the Mk1 MINI Cooper S. Torque is even more impressive, as it has risen from 320 to an almost unbelievable 396 Nm of the stuff. That's more than you get with most 2-liter turbodiesel engines that are out there.
