The first generation Renault Logan was launched in Brazil in 2007 and since then 210,000 units have been have been sold. Now, the ugly duckling is no more, replaced by the second generation model which has just been launched in the country.
Cosmetically, the isn't much of a difference to the Renault Symbol sold in North Africa or the Dacia Logan for that matter. But the lower front bumper has been redesigned and now gives this car the look of a baby Fluence.
There is, however, one very big difference under the bonnet. There, Renault Brazil has fitted a new 1.0-liter engine which has previously been available on the Clio Team (a tweaked version of the Clio 3). The engine is compatible with ethanol and produces 80 hp. Top speed for this new model is only 160 km/h while fuel consumption is 8.2 km/l (12.1 l/100km) on ethanol or 11.9 km/l (8.4 l/100km) on petrol. Prices for this low-end model start at BR$33,390 (€10,643)
Renault also offers the new Logan with a bigger 1.6 16-valve engine which produces 106 hp on ethanol or 98 on petrol. It offers a top speed of 180 km/h and costs BR$42,100 (€13,416).
