French automaker Renault decided to reveal today that it will bring the extended version of Kangoo ZE at the Geneva Auto Show, which opens its gates next week. Dubbed Renault Kangoo Maxi ZE, the van will come in two and five seater configurations, and priced from EUR21,200 before tax, and at EUR16,200 in France, with the state subsidies deducted.

Propelling the Kangoo Maxi ZE is a 44 kW electric motor powered by a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery positioned under the floor. Thanks to this propulsion system the Renault Kangoo Maxi ZE is able to return a combined-cycle range of 170 km.

To optimise range management, the dashboard has been revised to incorporate a new MMI (Man Machine Interface) which displays the battery's level of charge and the vehicle's remaining range (in kilometres). Eco-driving systems and the ability to pre-heat the vehicle while the battery is being charged have also been developed.

Renault also revealed it will market a number of connected services, tailored to meet the needs of individual motorists (Connected Pack) or fleet managers (Fleet Asset Management).

Highlights of the new Kangoo Maxi ZE include:
  • A carrying capacity of up to 4.6m3 (which is 1.1m3 more than Kangoo Z.E.).
  • Maximum load length of up to 2.90 metres.
  • Its height of just 1.82 metres permits access to underground car parks.
  • The equipment and options that can be ordered for the internal combustion-engined version of Kangoo Maxi will also be available for Kangoo Maxi Z.E.
autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
