Renault is testing the upcoming Megane RS, and its prototype is still concealed under the body of a Megane IV GT.
The testing phase seems to have reached the track phase, where test drivers put on their helmets, gloves, and race suits and put the car through the turns of the Nurburgring.

Renault used to have the quickest front-wheel-drive hot hatch on the track known as the Green Hell, so it was imperative that the next Megane RS drive at least as good as its predecessor.

As you can observe in the photos in the gallery, the Megane RS is concealed under the body of a Megane GT. You can spot the components of the RS easily, as the rear bumper has been cut to fit a central-mounted exhaust system, while the standard exhaust cut-outs of the regular setup have not been modified.

The prototype also features a different set of alloy wheels than the ones seen on the Megane GT and in the entire range of the French hatchback. The front axle’s brake calipers are clearly marked with “Brembo,” the same high-performance braking component supplier that has fitted the previous generation of the Megane RS.

Another obvious modification of the Megane GT body was the application of a set of ornaments on the wheel wells, on both axles. These were fitted to cover a change in the former, which have probably been cut to fit the new larger wheels. Most likely, the suspension system was also modified, so that the Megane RS could have an adequate composure on the road and track.

The upcoming Megane RS is expected to come to market in the second part of 2017, when it will be launched as a 2018 model year car. Like its predecessor, the Megane 4 RS is expected to continue using a front-wheel-drive architecture. It is unclear whether the rear-wheel steering system of the Megane GT will be fitted to the RS model, or if it will be ditched for a conventional setup.
