Renault Introduces Megane Monaco GP Lineup

The French carmaker has introduced the Renault Megane Monaco GP special edition based on the Megane Coupe and Megane RS, aimed unashamedly at a younger audience that demands “elegance, sport and style”. Both limited versions of the car are based on the Dynamique equipment level and will be officially unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The Megane now sports a pearlescent white body finish, developed especially for the Monaco GP series of cars. A sharp contrast is achieved by using Etoile black components like side mirrors, rear diffuser, fog lamp surrounds and headlight masks. Also painted in the color is a set of “Monaco GP” badges on the sides of the car. Inside the Megane, Renault designers have added a number of pearlescent white accents to the console, strip and door handles. As is the case with most special edition models, “Monaco GP” stitching has been embroidered onto the seats. The Renault engineers also tinkered with the chassis of the car, improving “driving thrills, with no detriment to comfort.” Both models feature a sporty ESP system, as well as bi-xenon directional headlights and latest-generation dual-chamber airbags. The five engine options available on the Coupe version are the dCi 110 EDC, dCi 130, dCi 160, Tce 130 and Tce 180. In the case of the Renault Megane RS Monaco GP, power will be provided by the existing 250 hp 2.0-liter 16V turbo engine. Unfortunately, prices have not been announced yet. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
