We've seen plenty of car companies try to use the beach and surfing to promote their cars, like Renault is doing today. However, we've never seen something quite like the Duster Oroch, which is a concept car based on the familiar crossover, but featuring a 4-door pickup body design.
This amazing machine has been put together just in time for this week's Sao Paulo Motor Show, the biggest event in the South American auto industry calendar. What really has us stunned is that it's got a 4-door crew cab body, while all the Duster Pickup prototypes we've seen were short 2-door models.
"The Duster Oroch is a concrete illustration of our strategy to develop products tailored to our Latin American markets," said Denis Barbier, Senior Vice President, Chairman of the Americas Region.
As a concept, the Duster Oroch takes the appearance of a beach cruiser. It features 18-inch wheels with 255/60 tires, raised suspension and upgraded lights. The roof is all made of glass to let more sunshine in, while the redesigned front bumper makes all the difference in the world, together with the LED light accents.
The Duster is already the best selling Dacia model and is proving very successful under the Renault badge in Brazil. Currently, the Duster Pickup is sold only as a 2-door in Brazil, which limits its practicality.
"Based on the Duster, which is one of our best-selling models in the region, the show car explores the world of pick-ups – a segment we’re absent from at the moment but which totals over 900,000 vehicles sold each year,” added Barbier.

Will they build it? Renault is making all the right noises
The French car company says that pickups represent some 75 percent of the 920,000-strong light commercial vehicle market in South America. That's huge, and they undoubtedly want to take advantage of that with an affordable product like this one. It's amazing to thing how everything started with a simple idea for a budget crossover based on an old Clio platform. The Duster is already the best selling Dacia model and is proving very successful under the Renault badge in Brazil.
