New from Russia, Renault fans, as the Russian subsidiary of the French carmaker told local media an AWD version of the Duster with automatic gearbox will be launched in the country early next year.
The Duster is, of course, available with AWD, in both petrol and diesel combinations. But there isn't a single automatic version, since Renault never supplied its budget brand with this technology.

But what kind of transmission is it? The company has mentioned that the new variant is developed specifically for Russia, but we think that's kind of fishy. The Duster is made in Romania, India, but also near Moscow. In some markets, it's available with a big 2-liter engine, while in western Europe, it will soon get a 1.2-liter turbo. If it's the 1.2-liter, then it's likely going to get the new EDC twin-clutch, but if it's any other model, the classic automatic used by the Megane is far more likely.
