Renault Cuts UK Lineup, Dacia Coming Though

Renault’s core business is Europe and while the UK plays a key role, an almost 30 sales drop there last year has prompted a rethink. So from February 1st on, the company will stop taking orders for some cars we hate and some we enjoy.

Probably the most important model cut is the Laguna sedan and Coupe, leaving Renault without a model it’s been associated with in the segment for a long time. Also to be cut are the Espace and Modus MPVs, the Kangoo and Traffic passenger vans, and the recently launched Twingo. There will also be no Wind roadster available, and the Gordini-spec versions of all other cars are gone (Twingo, Clio).

So what’s left? Well, Starting February 1st, you’ll only be able to buy the Twingo, Clio hatch or Sport Tourer, Megane hatch, coupe, CC and Sport Tourer, the refreshed Scenic and Grand Scenic, the three Renaultsport models and the Traffic Van.

Renault has also announced that the Dacia brand will begin being gradually shown to UK buyers in the second half of the year.
