Renault Commits to F1, Toyota Not Sure

Tired with press speculations about the Renault F1 Team pulling out of the sport starting next year, the French team's boss, Flavio Briatore took a stand and dispelled media fears with his statement.

"I don't understand why this question is always put to Renault", said Renault F1 team boss. "In the last five years, Renault is still racing and a lot of people are not any more. There's no problem at all", assured Briatore.

With the recent political turmoil that aroused this season, rumors are abundant in news about teams departing from Formula One. Flavio Briatore's statement came after some of these rumors targeted Renault as a possible team exiting the sport.

But the French F1 team in talk is already making plans for the future, even beyond the date of the recently signed agreement between FIA, FOTA and the F1 commercial rights holders.

"Renault wants to stay in Formula One for a long time and the Concorde Agreement is only signed until 2012, and then we will be looking for '13, '14, '15, '16", said Briatore.

Because of Honda and BMW's recent retirement from the sport, media attention turns now to Toyota's F1 Team. It was revealed in the press on Sunday, that Toyota's F1 budget hasn't been approved yet by the board of the Japanese car maker.

This is appears to be because Toyota Motor Co. is awaiting the results of its half-year financial report. After this, it is believed the Japanese automaker can make a decission about funding or not Toyota's 2010 Formula 1 season.
