Renault Clio V6 RS In Pristine Condition Could Be Yours For €44,950

Whereas the current-generation Renault Clio RS can make the MINI JCW put its money where its mouth is, the Clio V6 Renault Sport of yesteryear soldiers on in our hearts as the ultimate subcompact hot hatch. A very good one will set you back €44,950.

Premium car dealership XOTO of Varsenare, Belgium wants exactly that for the Clio V6 Renault Sport before your eyes. To be honest, it is a heck of a lot of money. To put that sum into perspective, the E-Class sedan starts from €42,745 in its most no-frills configuration.

According to XOTO, this car is sourced directly from the first owner, who put only 7,100 kilometers (4,411 miles) on the odometer. That’s pretty impressive considering that the initial date of registration for this Clio V6 Renault Sport is January 2002. So what makes this old supermini more special than the current batch of hot hatchbacks?

For starters, would you look at the with of it! The exterior design leads me to believe that this Clio got pumped up on steroids. But jokes aside, what’s under the buff physique will make plenty your jaws drop. Engine in the middle, rear-wheel-drive layout, and more fright factor than what the iconic Renault 5 Turbo had to offer.

Believe it or not, someone at Renault thought that it would be OK to shoehorn a 3.0-liter naturally aspirated V6 where the rear seats are supposed to be. The engine churns out 227 horsepower (230 PS) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque, enough get-up-and-go to hit 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in 6.2 seconds. Top speed? That'll be 146 miles per hour (235 km/h) or 3 miles per hour more than what the current Clio RS can manage.

Speaking of the present-day Renault Clio RS, this pocket rocket is only available with a dry-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The Clio V6 Renault Sport, however, has a good old six-speed manual transaxle. Don’t, however, think that this thing is as uncomfortable as a racing car.

I mean hey, at least it has manual air conditioning.
