Renault has really taken the supermini game to the next level with the Clio IV. This car is no only better looking, but also lighter and more economical and spacious than the previous generation model.
Probably the most important thing to change is the level of premium qualities, something that can be best explained by looking at the new base price, a steep €13,700 in France. While this might go down next year, it won’t be by much since the Clio’s interior is too well equipped, and all the engines are brand new.
One possible way to cut the price a bit would be to cut some doors off. But Renault might not want to do the 3-door supermini ever again. It has revealed no plans to build such a car, and so far no prototypes have been spotted.
Renault has decided the new and most likely much bigger Twingo will have to take care of the three-door market. It’s a shame really! Not only is this a great looking car that could have given the Peugeot 208 a run for its money, but it could also have added about 20% to their sales figures.
