Yesterday, Renault showed us the Alaskan Concept, a pickup truck prototype that's meant to launch the brand's global offensive in the LCV segment.
Honestly, we liked the Alaskan Concept because it is not looking like just another pickup truck. We can spot a personality under those sheets of metal, but since this is a concept we're talking about, not many design cues will be transferred to the production version.
But hold on, don't put your imagination to work just yet, because the dilemma concerning how will the Renault Alaskan will look like is partially solved. We're saying partially because what you see above is no an official rendering from Renault-Nissan, but the work of X-Tomi Design.
As you can see, the designer took some of the traits seen in the Alaskan Concept but didn't forget to tone them down a bit, just as Renault's designers would do prior to the pickup truck's reveal.
We can't guarantee the Alaskan pickup truck will look like this once the French carmaker launches it, but we're willing to settle with this photo manipulation until Renault provides official materials.
Besides the "work hard, play hard" attitude of the Alaskan, Renault claims customers will also receive a car that's equally apt for "business and leisure use, plus everyday motoring".
So far, Renault only told us the Alaskan Concept is powered by a four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel mill similar to the one found in the current master range.
Of course, for a car like this looks are not that important. What will matter most will be the pickup truck's abilities on rough terrain, towing capacity and how much stuff will the Alaskan's bed will be able to hold. But for now, let's be patient and wait for Renault-Nissan's next move.
