A lot of tuners come out with new parts for your car every day and all of them claim that their products are the best you can possibly get. As a matter of fact, if we’re to believe them, we shouldn’t even try to look for something else, as they will offer us the best deal at any given moment.
That’s not exactly correct. You know it, we know it and even they know it. However, every once in a while, one in a hundred tuners manages to hit a home run. This time, we’re talking about Remus and their new cat-back exhaust for the F55 MINI Cooper S.

We had the chance to test the new hatch and us too, as most people out there, were rather underwhelmed with the sound it made. To be honest, even the John Cooper Works model could do better but we’re not here to nitpick.

People (us included) need to understand that manufacturers make these cars with some key elements in mind such as day-to-day comfort and they are usually trying to offer as much as possible for as many tastes as you can imagine.

That being said, the Cooper S is as it should be: a fast hatch with a decent sound. That’s it. If you want more, you should think of an aftermarket solution such as the one Remus is offering.

The Germans have been providing custom exhaust systems for the MINI range ever since BMW took over but as time passed, technology evolved. Compared to the early systems, we are now dealing with remotely controlled valves that can alter the sound of the car by a rather impressive amount.

Remus’ offering has such a system that can be activated using a remote control that you can attach to your key chain. The thing is while some manufacturers aim only to increase the volume, the Germans seemingly also wanted to offer a better overall sound, not just amp up the speakers. To us, it looks excellent but we’re more interested in what actual owners have to say. Let’s hear it!
