You may remember a while back an article about a Chinese car which you could move about without actually being inside? Well, it’s now officially here - the BYD Su Rui (formerly known as the ‘F3 Su Rui’ or simply 'F3') has now been officially launched on the Chinese market.
It costs from 65,900 to 99,900 yuan (€8,350 to €12,650) which seems like a reasonable enough price for a car this size, with all the gadgets it seems to have (4.3-inch touch screen, DVD player, 3D trip computer and a lot of buttons, each of which actually does something).

Engines-wise, the Su Rui comes as standard with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 109 hp which is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox. However, there’s also a turbocharged version of that engine which puts out 154 hp and it can be mated to a six-cog automatic if a relaxed driving style is what the owner is after.

The remote control driving system has directional keys to move the car around at a maximum speed of 2 km/h (for safety reasons) and it genuinely seems to work. It has so many uses, aside from amazing/scaring your friends, like parking the car in gaps where you couldn’t open the door or gaps where you need to stand outside to accurately judge the distance.

It works up to a distance of 10 meters and we must admit it is by far the most impressive piece of car innovation to ever come out of China and a sign that the market is beginning to get its own personality and style. Congratulations BYD for finally making something original - the car itself is not a bad looking thing either so it seems that the Chinese automakers are on a bit of a roll. Watch out Europe and the rest of the world!
