As surprised as you may be that I say this, in the time that I've been exploring campers and travel trailers, I've come to learn a thing or two about what makes a solid machine. I know, it's a shock that anything stuck to this old grey matter at all, but today's discussion isn't about me; it's about an RV that is said to be "For the True Vintage Trailer Enthusiast."
Ladies and gentlemen, today's topic of discussion is a travel trailer designed and built by a team with a longstanding history in vintage camper and RV restorations, Relic Trailers. If you haven't heard of this restoration crew, you are not alone. Considering that they're a mom-and-pop crew, they've probably been flying under your radar. On the other hand, if you've needed some vintage RV restored and brought back to its former glory, then you know what this team can pull off.

Well, this time around, we won't be looking at anything Relic Trailers has restored but rather a camper that they can build for you from scratch. It's called the Relic, just like the company, and after coming across an abandoned warehouse in Michigan, where the manufacturing process for the machine we see was discovered, this team moved the lot to their existing compound and began bringing these babies back to life. That was 2015, and it wasn't until 2020 that we could finally drop the cash on one of these and call it our own.

So, what the heck can we look forward to? That's precisely what we'll be exploring today, and the best way to do that is to pretend that you purchased a Relic for yourself. But, it won't be a cheap adventure because we're being shown a price of $29,950 (€29,950 at current exchange rates) for a standard unit. Furthermore, the manufacturer also offers a few other packages that result in a travel trailer that costs you $59,950 (€59,970). Quite the price for a mobile fiberglass habitat.

Nonetheless, as you're driving along, all that fiberglass is only going to weigh you down with around 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms), so this bugger is suitable for an array of vehicles. According to the manufacturer, even good ol' 4-cylinder engines are fit for this bugger. The shell is also said to be aerodynamic, and judging by its shapes and lines, that's self-explanatory.

After driving for what may seem like hours, you pass by the edge of the Pacific and notice a neat little corner perfect for the evening plans you may have. A little dinner, a tad of guitar, and a small fire to warm the bones and give off a wonderful glow to your Instagram photos.

Now, as I explored this unit, I had to eventually head inside, as you undoubtedly will too. Well, it's here that I noticed that nearly everything is built out of wood; from the ceiling to sidewalls, to cabinets and storage bins, all wood. Honestly, I feel it has a lot to do with the sort of work this team prides itself on, restorations.

But isn't wood susceptible to pests and the elements, among others? It sure is, and so far, Relic Trailers doesn't mention how they treat this wood, so all we have for now is the fact that this manufacturer has been working with this material for ages, as their necromantic RV projects have shown over the years.

Wood interior aside, what I enjoyed about these puppies is that they can be customized with an array of interior options, some of which include a complete wet bath fit with a foot-flush toilet and bidet. Talk about finding the right leaf. While there's no information regarding how to customize this dwelling to your tastes, just let Relic know, and they'll do their best to make it happen, like any self-respecting RV manufacturer should.

At the end of the day, you should give Relic a call and find out about the way they treat the interiors of this camper or simply ask them how much your dream RV will cost you. Why bring another travel trailer to your attention? Simple, so that you have more options to choose from.
