When a tuning company is also involved in racing, the modification game is taken to a whole new level, with the results being bewildering pieces of machinery. Let us give you an example. German aftermarket developer and race team Reiter Engineering is introducing its 2011 Lamborghini LP600+, a vehicle that will be entered in GT3 events.

This is an older project that has been upgraded for 2011, with the list of novelties including engine modifications, a new front splitter, a redesigned bonnet, a new exhaust and modified gear ratios.

The beast’s 5.2 liter V10 engine has been modified to deliver over 600 hp at 8,000 rpm. The engine only has to move around 1,190 kg (2,623.5 lbs), as the vehicle has been put on a serious diet, receiving elements like Makrolon windows and carbon fiber parts. Speaking of tipping the scales, the racer comes with a distribution of 43/57 percent front/rear weight distribution.

Here are some other specs of the vehicle:
  • Structure: Lightweight, structural aluminium space frame, based on aluminium extruded parts welded to aluminium caster joint elements, structural reinforcements at suspension pick up points
  • Body: Aluminium with thermoplastic ‘retro-fit’ parts, racing front fenders, Air exit-ducts in front bumper
  • Suspension: REITER Engineering double wishbone front and rear suspension, anti-roll bar, anti-dive and anti squat, racing shocks and springs, race front and rear uprights based on GT1.
  • Front tyre: 300/650 –18 Racing slick
  • Rear tyre: 310/710 –18 Racing slick
  • Rear spoiler: High down force racing wing
  • Front spoiler: Front splitter with integral double under floor diffusers, Splitter covers complete frontal under floor
  • Under body: Flat under floor with rear diffuser
If you fancy becoming a track hero behind the wheel of such a creation, be prepared to spend EUR288,500/S384,000 (VAT not included).
