Regular People Review the BMW 3 Series Facelift

The 2016 BMW 3 Series Facelift will go into production this month and the first batch of cars should be delivered towards the end of the year. Since the timetable is so tight, the guys from What Car asked a couple of their readers to come down to their offices and check it out.

To be honest, we expected people to polarize around the new model and to express vastly different opinions. However, in the end, almost all of the readers agreed on most issues.

The car generally impressed with its interior and technology rather than the exterior design. As everyone noticed, the changes done to the body are rather limited and we knew that’s how BMW was going to approach this.

As one person noted, you’d have to be an expert to figure out which is which if an LCI and non-LCI model were parked next to each other. If the refreshed car isn’t fitted with the new LED lights up front, you’ll be in a bit of trouble, I can vouch for that. Round the back things are a lot easier to spot due to the new taillights that come as standard.

Inside the changes were also minimal but what most people appreciated was the space you get both up front and in the back. There’s a lot more than you’d expect and that’s a good thing, no matter how you look at it.

The infotainment system was also impressive as in regard to how much it improved compared to its predecessors. Even though between the facelift and the pre-facelift F30 models the improvements done to the iDrive are minimal, they were noticed.

Even the new engines were appraised especially considering that the 3 Series is usually a fleet car. Lower emissions and fuel consumption will make it a better proposal compared to its rivals.

As for the downsides, people did mention the lack of a proper rival for the S4 and AMG Sport versions from the competition. However, that’s on the way in the shape of an M Performance version of the 340i. Until we get to see it, let’s take a look at what regular people had to say about the new 3 Series.
