Mazda is about to refresh the RX-8 and, although we would like to feast our eyes with the upgraded model, we won't see it before the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Auto Motor und Sport yesterday wrote that the car will incorporate several enhancements, such as aerodynamic upgrades, revised interior and exterior styling improvement.
Specifically, power will come from a mid-mounted engine generating 231 horsepower and 211 Nm of torque and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This means the car can go from a standstill to sixty in 6.4 seconds and top at a maximum speed of 234 km/h (145.4 mph).
As for the exterior, the car will boast a new front and rear spoiler plus side skirts. LED taillights and 19-inch alloy wheels in dark grey are also included in the package.
Stepping inside, the updated RX-8 boasts black cloth and leather Recaro seats, as well as a new instrument cluster and three-spoke steering wheel. It will come with an uprated audio system as well comprising nine speakers plus Bluetooth connectivity.
The car won't car cheap, as German pricing is likely to go around 38,000 euros according to the aforementioned source. It's still unclear whether these are the specifications and the price solely for the German market, but more information should surface soon as Mazda will unveil the car, as we said, at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
