Refreshed Jeep Compass Debuts in Detroit

Jeep is still trying with the Compass, and while the model is not the most successful in the world, it is still an alternative in the small SUV sector, in which it competes against the Land Rover Freelander, Mazda CX-5 and Volvo XC60.

Still, it is a different choice, and now it is also a better choice, since Chrysler has just updated the Compass, for the 2013 model year. The refreshed car will debut at the North American International Auto Show, in Detroit, very soon, but until then, we only have these three press photos to show off.

Those who actually know the Compass will immediately notice the refreshed styling, which while it may be subtle, it makes a considerable (positive) impact for the whole look of the car. It gets a new grille, new headlights and new bumpers front and back.

Inside, Chrysler claims quality is up, and it should be, as the previous model had some rough spots, where the plastic could have been of much higher quality.

It retains the same choice of engines - a 2.0-liter petrol unit, and a new 2.2-liter diesel engine. These can either be mated to a six-speed manual or an all-new six-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is an option on either model.
