Reese Witherspoon Smiles Her Way Out of a Parking Ticket

Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon just joined the small community of famous actors who managed to get a pardon just because they're celebrities. The Legally Blonde star avoided getting a parking ticket in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on Monday after the officer recognized her.

She was about to take a ticket after her parking meter sit expired for 40 minutes, but the man recognized her and decided a good deed won’t harm anybody. And that is definitely what the actress felt considering she left with her Land Rover LR4 Discovery all smiles afterwards. Splash News photos were after her steps as the 38-year old star was sweating it out at a two-hour boxing class.

Sometimes people get lucky and that is what happened here, considering she got to her car the exact moment the parking officer was punching up a ticket on his handheld device. After a nice apology and a big smile, the starry-eyed cop then canceled the ticket and the two headed their separate ways.

Better than the last time

Easy to say, this time things got a lot better than her last encounter with the law, last year. Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth, who was driving, were pulled over after the car in which they were traveling was seen weaving across a double line on Peachtree Street in Atlanta. Toth was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.139 and was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failing to maintain a lane.

Problem was the actress got arrested as well, as she was charged with disorderly conduct for disobeying the arresting officer’s instructions to remain in the vehicle and arguing with him. She said she did not believe he was a real police officer and asked him if he knew who she was.
