About a week ago Toyota US’ vice president of sales Paul Holdrige said Scion won’t be releasing any new models until 2017. However, Scion’s Doug Murtha revealed the brand will introduce “a blend of upgrades” for the existing lineup and “at least one new model” by 2016.
"In the next two calendar years, we will have a blend of both upgrades to the products we have in the market and at least one new model," Murtha told Edmunds, adding that the new vehicle will arrive in “calendar year 2015, and it will be either model year 2015 or 2016. It will certainly not be a 2017 model."
While Murtha declined to reveal which models will receive a facelift for the 2015 model year, Edmunds speculates that Scion is looking to redesign the xD hatchback.
In addition, Scion might also introduce a couple of special edition models for their existing range of models. "I think we are going to do some different things with packages on the existing models, special editions. As you know Scion has a history of doing some Release Series products, kind of limited runs of upgrades and special content."
