After it played with our nerves for a couple of weeks and almost drove us insane with so mane postponements, Suzuki has finally taken the wraps off the much awaited Middle-class New Motorcycle. However, to the disappointment of many, it was not an all-new model that could blow your minds away, but an updated version of the V-Strom 650 instead.

All that fuss for nothing, some might say. But before jumping to conclusions, let’s give it a chance and see what it has to offer.

It looks like the new 2012 V-Strom 650 will come with 68hp at 8,800rpm and 60 Nm of torque at 6,400rpm from its V-twin engine, an increased low-to-mid rpm performance and a better fuel efficiency (up 10%).

The bike has also received various styling upgrades, that mostly target the aerodynamics. These include a reshaped and 15mm-taller seat and a narrower fuel tank, and an updated upper fairing and three-position, a new muffler and a height-adjustable windscreen further improve wind protection and flow.

The bike’s seat combines red-stitched leather-look sections and suede-look, slip-resistant surfaces, and is topped off with an embossed V-Strom logo.

Suzuki’s new middleweight adventure bike also comes with three-spoke aluminium alloy wheels as standard. It gets a new multi-function instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer and a brightness adjustable LCD screen. There's also an LED indicator that warns riders about road freeze.

The bike will become available this fall in a choice of two body colors: Pearl Mirage White or Metallic Fox Orange. Suzuki will also include anti-lock brakes on the new 2012 V-Strom 650. In the US, the bike will wear a price tag of $8,099.
