Red Bull Uses Filming Session for Testing at Barcelona

Red Bull Racing got one day of testing back this off-season, after missing out on the opening test of Valencia earlier this month. With the RB6 being launched after the test at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Red Bull practically threw away the first 3 days of testing prior to the opening round of the 2010 F1 season (meaning 20 percent of the entire test days this winter).

However, having booked the Barcelona circuit this week – on Wednesday – for a private filming session ahead of the 2010 season, some reports suggested the Milton-Keynes team did a full-speed test of the RB6. While Sebastian Vettel took the car to the track in the morning, his teammate Mark Webber took over in the afternoon.

The good news about this extra day of RB6 running was that the weather in Barcelona was very good, meaning both drivers had the opportunity to fully explore the potential of the car on a dry track. In fact, with the sole exception of Saturday when some showers are expected to appear neat the Barcelona area, the weather for this week's test (to kick off today) will be as good as it gets.

Ferrari have already announced that they will debut a brand new chassis at Barcelona this week. As compared to the one debuted by the Scuderia at Jerez last week, this one – namely the 283 – is believed to feature a more drastic aerodynamic package.

The team will use a new chassis, with the number 283. The cars the Scuderia will have available at the start of the season will therefore be complete: chassis 281 debuted in Valencia, followed by number 282 during the second session in Jerez de la Frontera,” said a Ferrari statement.

Action at the Circuit de Catalunya – officially – will start this morning, this being the last test of the off-season, prior to the season opening Bahrain GP.
