Red Bull to Sort Out Drivers Strategy for Abu Dhabi

Red Bull Racing has just won its first major title in history in Formula One, securing the constructors' crown one race before the finish line, in Brazil. Present on the F1 scene ever since 2005, when Red Bull's Dietrich Mateschitz purchased the ex-Jaguar F1 team, the Austrian outfit was practically the team to beat this season, securing 14 pole positions in 18 races, along with 8 wins and 10 additional podiums.

With one title already in the bag, it's needless to say that Red Bull will aim for the second one available, meaning the drivers' crown. And, if Mark Webber was until the Brazilian GP regarded as the one Red Bull racer to challenge Ferrari's Fernando Alonso for the title, the situation got a bit complicated at Interlagos.

Vettel's win in Brazil got him 15 points behind Alonso in the standings, while Webber is right between the two, 7 points ahead of his teammate. With both its drivers having mathematical and decent chances for the world title – Webber would need a win and hope that Alonso comes 3rd or worse, while Vettel's win would lead to a world title only with Alonso down in 5th place or worse – the team will take the whole week to think of a strategy for Abu Dhabi.

“We will be considering how to approach Abu Dhabi, both technically and tactically,” motorsport consultant Dr Helmut Marko told German RTL television after the Brazilian Grand Prix.

“Right now we will celebrate and then all of our efforts will be aimed at winning the drivers' title in Abu Dhabi. Then we will remind our drivers of the fact that they are team players,” he added, according to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

Needless to say, neither of the two Red Bull drivers want to give up on their title chances, with Vettel stating very clear, following his successful outing in Brazil, that he aims for the crown and nothing less.
