Just as expected, the RB6 unveiled by Red Bull at Jerez is a logical evolution of the race winning RB5 last year, with this season's car being completely designed around the new double diffuser. The component was fitted onto the RB5 midway through last season, as the car's suspension had to be modified in order to incorporate it.
Additionally, the car features a shark fin engine cover similar to the ones presented by several of its rivals for the 2010 title, while also featuring a more extreme V-nose than its predecessor, the RB5. The front wing of the new car features an intricate design, while its sidepods are more crafted as compared to the ones on the RB5.
Webber will be the first to take the new car to the track later today, as he is scheduled to complete the first 2 days of testing on the Jerez circuit. He will afterwards hand the car to German teammate Sebastian Vettel, who will conclude the test with 2 days of action on Friday and Saturday.
Many believe the Red Bull RB6 may be the car to beat in 2010, considering their strong finish of the 2009 campaign. As not many things changed in terms of aerodynamic package for the new season, the evolution of a race-winning car would logically have to be another dominant machine. So we guess we'll just have to wait and see what Adrian Newey has in store for us this year.
