Red Bull Expected Strong Weekend at Silverstone

Red Bull's design guru Adrian Newey decided to take a modest approach following his team's dominating performance at Silverstone, as the British official admitted it was the circuit's characteristics (also) that enabled the RB5 to score such perfect lap times throughout the duration of this weekend.

The Red Bull drivers topped 2 of the 3 practice sessions at Silverstone last weekend, while also scoring two of the best three lap times during Saturday's qualifying session (including pole position). In addition, Vettel and Webber climbed on the highest two steps of the podium on Sunday, as the former also set the fastest time during the British Grand Prix.

Although giving the Red Bull mechanics a great amount of credit for their development work during the past few weeks, Newey admitted the high-speed corners of the Northamptonshire track suited the RB5 more than it did the two Brawns. In addition, he is convinced their rivals will fight back from as early as the German Grand Prix, three weeks from now.

I think it is a tremendous commitment and determination from the entire factory at Milton Keynes to get the parts researched, designed and manufactured to be here this weekend. Hats off to them for the commitment they have shown to achieve that,” said Newey.

We feel we are in the same position as Brawn feel. I think this circuit has suited us very well, and equally it hasn't suited the Brawn. So it hasn't been a normal weekend – we shall see,” added the Red Bull official, who also expressed his gratitude towards Vettel & Webber for gifting him with a wonderful 1-2 at his home race at Silverstone.

A home win is always that little bit extra special for some reason, and to do it from the front through the weekend was a great feeling,” added Newey.
